Your rights and options when a home is appraised
Chapter 2: you get a copy
Know this
For a first-lien mortgage, the lender must give you a free copy of every appraisal and written valuation promptly after it is completed, or at least three business days before closing, whichever is earlier. You can waive the timing, but not the copy itself. If you have not received it, ask the lender.

The rule
Regulation B section 1002.14 sets the requirement; the CFPB summary explains it in plain terms.
Reading it
- Check facts: rooms, square footage, lot, features.
- Check the comparable sales and their dates.
- Note any errors for a reconsideration request.
